About me
Hi, I’m Sibylle – the human behind Dogstories
From as far back as I can remember, animals have always been part of my life. Growing up in Switzerland, I was surrounded by dogs and horses, and even as a child I dreamed of working with them. Back then, people told me it wasn’t a “real job” – especially not for a woman. But that dream never really left me.
An Unexpected Path
Before following my heart, I studied History of Religions and Linguistics at Geneva University. Looking for adventure, I then worked in private security and even joined the Swiss army, where I served for two years and left as a Sergeant-Major Chef. While I learned discipline, teamwork, and resilience, something was still missing. I spent all my free time at the stables or volunteering at a dog shelter – because that’s where I truly felt at home.
Meeting My Teachers – Romarin & Kano
Everything changed when I adopted Romarin, a 20 kg Romanian rescue full of challenges: fear, reactivity, aggression, and anxiety. Training him was tough, but he became my greatest teacher. A few months later, Kano, a sensitive Swiss White Shepherd, joined the family. Together, they became my “evil brothers” – and my best classroom.
With them, I didn’t just learn training techniques. I learned patience, empathy, and the importance of adapting to each individual dog.
Becoming a Dog Trainer
Driven by this passion, I trained and qualified as a certified dog trainer, later specializing in:
-
Basic dog training technics at AOA in Geneva, graduate as a dog trainer,
-
Nosework (scent detection games that stimulate a dog’s mind), graduate as instructor with Laure Hanouna from Chien Zen,
-
Social behaviour (helping dogs interact safely and confidently), AoA in Geneva,
-
Handling dangerous dogs in shelters, intership at AVA, Normandie, France
Along the way, I discovered that training isn’t only about dogs – it’s about people, too. Owners often just need the right guidance to see big improvements.
